Fascination with the strange and unexplainable has intrigued people for years. Illnesses of the mind often terrify, because of the lack of understanding of the cause and the cure. In the 1800’s Robert Louis Stevenson, best known for his book Treasure Island, wrote the novel entitled, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde; a scientist by day and a criminal by night. The story relates of a scientist, Dr. Jekyll, who drinks a potion that transforms him into Mr. Hyde, depicted as the dark side of his personality.
Stevenson was intrigued with personality disorder and other psychological problems. There is still interest today in this strange tale as evidenced by the popular video game, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. http://www.classicmoviesandradio.com/2009/05/27/dr-jekyll-and-mr-hyde.html
