How Prayer can Affect Your Lifestyle

Many people rarely or never pray, and their lives reflect the absence of a relationship with the Creator. They are blown about by the wind, never knowing from one day to the next where their lives are going. They don’t plan their lives, but rather end up wherever life takes them, going from one dead-end job to another. Does this sound like you? Did you know that consulting the King of the Universe before making decisions could dramatically alter the course of your life?

Simply taking time out to pray teaches you to discipline yourself and brings a sense of order to your lifestyle. One of the biggest decisions we make is whom we decide to marry. The person you marry is a decision that affects your entire life! Unfortunately, many people jump into marriage without thinking, much less seeking God’s opinion on the matter. This is one reason why the divorce rate is so high. If young people would just spend a few minutes in prayer asking God to choose their mates, then trusting Him to do so, they would be surprised at how He would answer them.

Those who take time to pray and seek God’s opinion on life’s decisions are more likely to finish high school, go on to take college courses and get the jobs they really want. Involving Him in your day-to-day decisions means you won’t be living haphazardly anymore. As you get to know God and learn more about His will for your life, your life will become organized and less dysfunctional. Then, you’ll be more inclined to pray for others’ needs, so that they, too, may find order and peace of mind in their lives.
