Leading a Prayerful Life

Leading a prayerful life for some people is easy and done without much effort. For others, it takes quiet and concentration. Sometimes you must learn to fit prayer into your schedule by jotting it down into your appointment book as a reminder.

There are many ways to get you on track to leading a prayerful life. One idea is to try and make it a habit by praying the same time every day. This way it will become a customary practice for that specific time of day.

Another suggestion is to make a list of people and things to pray for on a daily basis. One day you could pray for the family and the home. The next day you would pray for the business and financial aspects of life. Keeping a list of what your praying needs are will help you stay focused while praying.

It is also possible to pray when you are doing other tasks such as driving or exercising. When driving, you could use this time to pray instead of getting angry with insensitive drivers. As well, you could use the time you’re exercising, like during a jog or laps in the pool, to pray.

Praying with others also develops a good prayerful life. This way you develop not only a spiritual connection while praying, but you also experience an increase in faith and an increase in your friendships with others who share your praying life style.

When praying with others, you can change your usual pace of prayer. Singing and giving praises of thanks are additional ways that you can develop better prayer time. Sometimes just saying or meditating on one-sentence prayers is all that is needed to give you the closeness you may need at that particular time.
