Prayers for the Dying

Whether you normally pray in your everyday life or not, when you are facing death, the power of prayer may bring some comfort to the person in need. If the individual in need does not feel comfortable praying, then whoever is close to that person can also offer prayer on their behalf. Prayer brings solace and a sense of relief to an individual. Death for many people may be a frighting experience, but death is only of the physical body.

The Bible states that even though the flesh has died, your spirit is everlasting. Also, everyone sins in their everyday lives, and many people believe that if a person sins, they are going to go to hell. So, with prayer, you are asking God to forgive you of your sins before your judgment day. It is an understanding that you should never question God’s choices, but most people are always wondering why, why me or why the people that they love so much. However, we also know that with life comes death; this is inevitable. Whether you believe in prayer or not, there are many scriptures in the Bible that offer some relief such as John 11:25-26, Psalm 116:15, Ecclesiastes 3:11, to name a few.

There are still some individuals that think that only certain people can offer prayer to the dying soul, such as minister, priest and people of that caliber. However, God hears all of our prayers. There is no such rule that indicts that not anyone can pray. The key is mainly to ask God to first forgive the individuals for any sins that they may have committed. Then, if they are not saved, to ask God to save that person and allow them the gift of eternal life. Whether you have never prayed before, there is no key to it. You can talk to God about anything.
