Everyone laughs at some time in their life. Smiles and laughter are the first shows of emotion we encourage in a baby. People laugh at a baby’s antics and smile as they marvel at their resilience. Laughter is one thing that is free to all humanity and has the most benefits if they allow themselves to indulge.
Laughter is a human birthright; they start with a smile when they are a few weeks old that leads to laughter in a few months. A happy laughing child is much healthier than one who is very serious and does not laugh very often. A laughing person attracts others to themselves, which is why a good leader will try to encourage laughter in a group; it primes the brain to enjoy the moment. Not only will it defuse tension and conflict, but also has a bonding effect on the group. Laughter is a great way to lower stress, relax muscles, reduce pain, and boost the immune system. Each type of emotion uses only one part of the brain; however, laughter uses the entire brain and brings your body and mind back into balance. Laughter makes you feel good and that feeling remains long after the laughter ends; it helps you keep a positive, optimistic attitude even through disappointments, loss, and difficult situations. A good laugh can give you the courage and strength to find new ways to meaning and hope in your life.
Laughter is contagious, even more than the flu or a cold, and it has many good side effects as well. The average adult will laugh approximately seventeen times a day. If everyone would laugh a little more each day, they would be much happier and healthier.
